I have always enjoyed baking. And, when I moved into my first apartment with my husband, I always cooked the
same things; spaghetti, mac cheese, anything easy. Eventually, I got tired of the same stuff and buried my nose in cook
      books.

One day I came across a recipe I thought sounded so yummy!! I don't remember the name of the meal but do
remember it consisted of baked chicken, asparagus, and creamy sauce. Ready to try something new I cut out the recipe
      and headed for the store.

As soon as I got home I started to make dinner. I followed the recipe word for word, mix all ingredients "pour in
baking pan," and so forth. Time to put it in the oven...wait a minute I didn't have any foil to cover my meal. Panicking, I
did what any other girl would do . . . I called Mom!

Unfortunately, Mom didn't have foil but I did notice that I had plastic wrap. I was uncertain if it would melt. Having
been reassured by my mom that I can use plastic wrap I wrapped my meal, put it in the oven, and went to finish my
      cleaning.

My husband arrived just as I took out my meal. To my horror, my plastic wrap was gone and I knew exactly where it
went. Sadly, we had no money for pizza and I sure didn't feel like making something else. We tried our best to eat around
the areas with the melted plastic.

My efforts were recognized, and my mistake quickly forgotten but I will never bake with plastic wrap for as long
      as I live!!

My story is about peanut butter balls. They are my favorite candy, and my mom started making them every
      Christmas.

When we make them, we have to roll them into little balls, and this is where I have my problem. Every time I try to
roll a perfect ball it comes out looking more like a UFO. No matter how I do it, I can't ever get them as pretty as my
mom and dad do. But they still come out tasting great!

While my three sisters and I were growing up, Mom always found time to teach us something new in the kitchen.

      Thanks Mom!!!

My story is about homemade chicken noodles. First of all I must say that I LOVE THEM!!!!

Growing up I remember my mom cooking lots of different things like breads, pies, cakes, chicken, and pancakes.

However, the thing I remember the most is her making homemade chicken noodles. We all loved them and so did our

neighbor who would conveniently come over for dinner when Mom was making them.

Now I call Mom every time I want to make them so she can "tell me how". My kids love throwing the noodles in the

pot after I cut them.

Thanks Mom!!!! Love, Ida.

Well, this last Thanksgiving is the second year in a row that I have had the pleasure of cooking turkey and
Thanksgiving dinner for our entire family.

My Mom and Mac, my brothers and sister, and their families all came out for a delicious turkey dinner. Everything
went great without any disasters, except once again, for the second year in a row, my brother, Elijah, asked me if I made
sure to pull the bag out of the turkey. I simply stated yes, I pulled the neck out, but oddly enough, there was no other
      bag.

He pulled the turkey out and asked if I had checked the second hole in the turkey and I lost it.  We were hysterically
laughing because again I had forgotten that there are two holes in the turkey (neck and rear) to check for 'baggage.'

I really was laughing so hard that I couldn't breathe, and none of us could believe that I had  'done it again!' So, next
year I will make sure that I check both holes for the 'baggage'.

I love to try out new recipes and can't wait to get your book!

There is one memory of cooking that will always be my favorite. It is one of my sisters, Mom, and me making
      homemade bread.

I can remember sitting around a small round table with my three sisters and the smells of the bread that was baking
in the oven; and looking down and seeing my clothes covered in flour and being completely content.

My mom always made and still makes me a special kind of bread that looks like a half-moon. A shape that is, I think,
just the perfect size for a butter and jelly snack.

      Thanks Mom!

Well, I remembered an other story I wanted to share with you.

All my life, whenever I wanted to help my mom in the kitchen, I would sit on the counter top. I always had to make sure to
wash both my hands and feet, because I always sat with my legs crossed on the counter top.

My mom would bring me whatever needed to be mixed or cut. I would sit there the and do my mixing and cutting, and not
move until it was all done. As I got older I started bringing in a pillow with me. Now, I continued to do this till I was about
21...I'm not joking! It was about that time that I had my son, so I wasn't able to just sit and cook.

I will never forget how much fun Mom and I had while we were cooking!
